It’s midweek Tuesday and you would never know it with all the ladies who made their way over to Pendleton Oregon for the Pendleton Poker Round Up Ladies Event. With hosts Susie Isaacs, Marsha Waggoner, Karina Jett, and Carol Hale (Oklahoma Johnny Hale’s better half), and the one and only “Suck Out Susie” where anyone with a bad beat story can go and share their woes of the tables.
The day began with refreshments and registration. 140 ladies showed to take on the challenge and compete for the LIPS Champion title. Even Tom McEvoy came over to give well wished to the ladies. (He brought along his WSOP Bracelet so we could all take a peek too! Thanks Tom!)
This event felt like a party complete with a prize wheel for anyone who the pros knocked out to spin, or the gal that knocked out the pro to spin as well! Items such as travel cases, shirts, hats, and such were on the wheel but there was also a fabulous wool blanket made special for the Tamastslikt tribe at the famous Pendleton Wool Factory. It had been on the wheel all week during the other events but it wasn’t won until the ladies event.
At the dinner hour, there were only 46 ladies left and a gourmet treat from the food and beverage staff was served. Great conversation, food and creating new friendships were the happening of the hour. Then it was back to the tables and the battle to the final table began once again.
Slowly but surely ladies were finding their way to the rail. Two of our pros, Susie Isaacs and Marsha Waggoner were doing their best to knock them out. The prize wheel kept on spinning as we got to the final table and yep, they both made it there!
After several hours, Sherri Aiken and Jamie Humphrey’s went heads up. They chopped first and second withholding another $1k to go to the winner along with the prize package. It went back and forth when Jamie’s Ace Ten held up for the win. She will represent Wildhorse Casino in the LIPS Championship and the WSOP Ladies event. Congratulations on her win!
